Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Review

Hello beauties, I know it has been a while since I last posted but here I am again! Today I have a make up review for the new Laura Mercier Translucent powder.
I received this powder from Influenster to try out and review! In the end of this post I will let you know how to possibly join Influenster if you are interested!

This is the new Laura Mercier TLSP:
It retails for $38
Comes in two shades: Translucent & Medium Deep

Before I jump in to the pros and cons let me list what this product claims to do according to sephora.com:

  • Locks in makeup for long-lasting wear, without adding weight or texture.
  • Creates a modern, matte finish with a touch of sheer coverage, while it absorbs oil and reduces shine all day.
  • The powder is a little denser than an average powder, providing super smooth, even application and blending.
  • No-flashback formula and it creates a soft-focus effect to subtly blur the look of fine lines and imperfections. It will not settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey.
  • Work on all skin tones—from the fairest to the deepest.

Translucent: perfect for fair to medium and tan skin tones.
Translucent Medium Deep: Ideal for medium-deep to the deepest skin tones.

This professional-quality powder is noncomedogenic, non-caking, and dermatologist tested.

Research results:
In a consumer test on 32 women after 2 weeks:
- 100% said it's the key to long-lasting makeup and ensures makeup lasts throughout the day
- 100% said it is lightweight and does not look cakey on skin
- 100% said it controls and reduces shine
- 97% said it absorbs excess oil
This all sounds very good, huh!?
Let me let you what I think about this product:
My skin type is oily combination, acne prone, and what I look for in a setting powder is being able to bake underneath the eyes to set my concealer, for it to control my oil, seal my makeup, and have no flash back when taking photos. With all this product claims, it sounds like the perfect thing for me! Haha.

I have been using this product for over two weeks now and I do have to say, I have fallen in love! I was a bit skeptical about it since my go to, inexpensive, setting powder is the RCMA No color translucent powder was my holy grail powder. I gave this a try and I'm not even kidding, my co workers kept asking my what was different about my makeup, and the only thing I had changed was the setting powder.
PROS:
  • WORKS WONDERFULLY for my concealer underneath my eyes: this is a big deal for me lol
  • Controls my oiliness throughout the day, matte finish but if I do get oily during the day it looks more dewy instead of oily.
  • No flashback!!! This is another thing that is important to me. I love my RCMA no color powder but if I accidentally apply too much of that and take a photo with flash.....it looks like I have a white mask on! I have not had this issue with this powder!
  • I have recommended this to several peers and customers and it has worked for their skin tones! I have a medium skin tone, my coworker has a lighter skin tone than me and one of my customer has a deeper skin tone (and she used the translucent color since the med/deep was dark for her) and it looks good in all skin types in my opinion!
CONS:
Honestly, NONE. The formula itself is great, absolutely love this powder.
Only con I kind of have is with the applicator they made for it.
This is the Laura Mercier Velour Puff

It retails for $15, it is sold separately from the powder.
They have a method on how to use this to apply the powder: it's like dab into product, fold it and rub product in, tap excess and press into skin. I honestly do not like using it this way, I feel its a bit messy and wasting product. I do like the puff, i just wish it was smaller. I do dab it into the powder carefully, and use it to set the powder all over my face. To set underneath my eyes though, this is not as convenient so I prefer to use my beauty blender for that or a brush. I like the puff, i just wish it was smaller but it's also not a must buy with the powder.

Overall, I totally recommend this if you're looking for a setting powder, have oily skin, and want something to seal your makeup so it can last all day.
